My Epiroc system tracks fleets by mobile device, computer

Epiroc has developed a new system and app for tracking equipment fleets via computer and mobile devices. The company says the My Epiroc digital system improves fleet efficiency, with a focus on increasing uptime for mining and infrastructure operations. The system tracks fleet status in the production process, providing alerts and updates, and highlights items that need immediate attention. “The platform also exposes faults and bottlenecks to allow for optimization and increased efficiency,” says Hans Schill, U.S. Regional Application Center manager. Operators and service technicians in the field can also use it to manage daily flows related to logging events, reporting faults, managing service scheduling and parts ordering. Data is stored in an encrypted cloud environment, where information can be …

Cyber Security Measures For The Midsize Company?

Good Morning Y'all, I'm currently tackling the problem of how best to keep our data secure as a boutique PM company. I sometimes feel like I'm exaggerating the danger, but I often feel like the type of data we keep on file, names, birthdates, prior residences, social security numbers of applicants, not to mention routing and account numbers for clients, vendors and even our own rental accounts makes for a pretty prize should someone gain access to it. What tools and methods do you have in place to keep your data secure? At current we have factor authentication on our main software, but not so much so on things like our google accounts. Part of our problem is getting …

This depressing ad for Facebook’s Portal TV somehow stars Kim Kardashian West and Jennifer Lopez

Because nothing says genuine human connection like two celebrities discussing “top secret” party ideas in a Facebook ad. It’s just a few days before Black Friday, the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season, and for Facebook that means sponsored content to push its latest hardware product on our nation’s grandparents. Specifically, that would be the poorly selling Portal TV — a videoconferencing device seemingly purpose-built to be shoved in a drawer and forgotten about.  And what do you know? Facebook somehow convinced Kim Kardashian West and Jennifer Lopez to star in the damn thing — wearing brightly colored facial masks, no less. Less than a month after unveiling MBAM 4.0, Malwarebytes has released Malwarebytes AdwCleaner 8.0, a major new version of its standalone adware-cleaning tool. Its UI has also been refreshed to chime with MBAM 4.0’s. AdwCleaner provides a portable, streamlined tool designed to target adware, PUPs and preinstalled software. Spotify’s new road trip playlist generator is pretty neat!

I am a begrudging fan of algorithmic playlists. I miss putting together my own “new favorite songs” lists and assembling the perfect order of tunes for a burned CD. But damn if Spotify’s Discover Weekly and Your Daily Mix playlists aren’t convenient, and generally, really good. Spotify flexed its algorithmic playlist-making muscles again Friday when it released a new tool meant to provide the perfect soundtrack for an upcoming road trip: “Soundtrack your ride.” It’s a partially human, partially computer-directed playlist generator assembled to fit the length of your road trip.  A portal takes you through a series of questions about your upcoming road trip as well as your music taste. Ostensibly combined with what it knows about your music …

A Mickey Mouse-themed Echo Wall Clock might be on the way

Last year, Amazon launched the Echo Wall Clock, a physical clock that can also display timers from your Echo device via a ring of LEDs around the clock’s face. Now, a new model of the device, the Echo Wall Clock ME, has shown up in Federal Communications Commission filings, and it appears that the new model will be Mickey Mouse-themed. Beyond the addition of Mickey’s smiling face, twisted time-telling arms, and a cartoony background, it seems like the Echo Wall Clock ME (Mickey Edition?) shares a lot of characteristics with the original Echo Wall Clock. The ME appears to have the same font for the clock’s numbers and similar LEDs all around the clock face. It’s unclear if there are …

Eye strain – CVS?

Have been suffering for months now with what I believe is computer vision syndrome. Hoping anyone could chime in with advice/possible suggestions or ideas. I went to the eye doctor three months ago for glasses, I was having sharp pains in my left eye especially when trying to focus or moving it. The pain felt like it was behind my eye, or just below my eyebrow. Eye doctor sent me to ER, they saw nothing but diagnosed me with optical neurotis due to symptoms. Kept me three days … Here I am two months later, all same symptoms. Headaches every morning, eyes feel horrible upon waking, dry, ect. Pain in the upper eye/eyebrow region(especially left eye). Seriously considering patching it …
